President Kovind lays foundation stone of fisheries harbor and dedicates water supply scheme at Mangrole

Ahmedabad, October 02, 2017: President of India Mr. Ramnath Kovind today laid a foundation stone for the fisheries harbor to be developed at a cost of Rs. 143.07-crore and also dedicated to the people the group yojna of the water supply department developed at a cost of Rs 103-crore at Mangrole in Junagadh district.

Mr. Kovind said that in the coming years the fisheries harbor will open-up the doors of prosperity for the people. He expressed hope that the harbor will provide facilities of European and international standards to the local fishermen and exporters involved in the fisheries productions. Once the harbor works is completed, it will increase the birthing and landing capacity of it by three times; as a result the prosperity of the area will also increase.

The Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani stated that the Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi’s ‘Sagar Khedu Scheme’ has opened-up the doors of prosperity for the people residing on along the coastal areas. The state government is also determined to prosper the people of the coastal areas.

He also announced to develop new Bandar fishing harbor at a cost of Rs. 294-crore at Mangrole. And fishing harbors at Modhvad, Porbandar phase-2, Veraval phase-2 and Sutrapad at a total cost of Rs. 880-crore.

The Chief Minister also announced that in case of death of fisherman in Pakistani jail, the state government will pay a compensation of Rs 4-lakh to his family. He also declared that previously it was 7-years’ span to pay compensation in the cases missing fishermen, but, now the state government has reduced it to just one-year. He also announced a open dredging policy for the harbors and jetties. For solving the drinking water problem of these areas the government has developed a scheme at a cost of Rs. 103-crore. The scheme will provided water to 45-villages of the Mangrole taluka. A cheque of Rs. 1.51-lakh was handed over to Mr. Rupani for the Chief Minister Swachhta Fund.

Others who attended the function included state water supply minister Mr. Jasabhai Barad, parliament secretary Mr. Hirabhai Solanki, MP Mr. Rajeshbhai Chudasma, vice-chairman of Gujarat Maritime Board, Mr. Ajay Bhadu, OSD Mr. Prajapati, MLA (Keshod) Mr. Arvindbhai Ladani, chairman, Gujarat fisheries association, Mr. Veljibhai Masani, leaders Vandanaben Makwana, Tulsibhai Gohil, Jagdishbhai Fokandi, Lakhanbhai Bhesla, collector Mr. Dr. Rahul Gupta, district police chief Mr. Nilesh Jajdiya, DDO Mr. Ajay Prakash and others.
